About:

Inspired by the structure of a seedpod, our Ortus hoop earrings are a symbol of nature’s creation. Made with sparkling pink Spinels, these can be worn three ways: classically, in reverse, or simply just the hoops alone.

These Spinels hail from the Pamir mountains in Tajikistan, an historically important location. The Kuh-i-Lal mine has supplied some of the world’s finest gems in imperial collections from British, Russian and Persian Collections for centuries. Formerly referred to as ‘Balas rubies’ the most famous examples include the Black Prince’s Ruby in the British Imperial State Crown, the Hope Spinel and the centre piece decorating the Imperial Crown of Russia made for Empress Catherine the Great.
